Signs You May Need a New Chimney
Have you got a leaking chimney? Have you had a persistent problem with damp patches on your chimney breast.
Let’s keep this simple. A chimney is an exit through your roof for smoke or spent gases from a fire.
If you no longer have a fire then you have a brick column protruding through your roof & into all that the British weather can throw at it! Your leak may not be as simple a fix as you would hope.
Our experienced team provides reliable, high-quality chimney repairs with a focus on long-lasting results and customer satisfaction.

Chimney Repair Checklist
Here is a quick check list. If you can say yes to all of these then your problem may be something else!
If you can say yes to all the points then the problem may be condensation.
What Could The Problem Be?
Years of burning fuels can lead to a build up of hygroscopic salts.
Previous leaks that allowed rainwater to soak through the chimney dissolved these salts & contaminate the plaster.
High humidity and vapour inside the house penetrate the chimney, where the cooler temperature raises the relative humidity to near due point. Some of the salts from flue gases can become deliquescent, so in effect they become liquid & are drawn through the plaster via capillary action.
The plaster becomes hygroscopic & will remain that way.
The only solution is to re plaster.
This is a specialists job. Normal gypsum plaster is not suitable and will draw more moisture.
The upshot is that sometimes a leaking chimney isn’t actually leaking.
